Revenge is Served as the Mavs win 3-1 Over the Mallards

 

Just a night after being defeated by the Quad City Mallards, the Mavericks traveled to Quad City where they took revenge and won 3-1 with two goal by Podge Turnbull and One by John Scott-Dickson

 Just one night after a 2-0 loss to the Quad City Mallards, at the Independence Events Center , the Missouri Mavericks traveled to Quad City seeking a win and some revenge. The Mavs found a 3-1 win with two goals scored by, rookie, Josh “Podge” Turnbull and the other goal scored by John Scott-Dickson.

  The first period started and ended slow, with both teams taking nine shots and having three power plays each. Mike Clemente had two amazing blocks that kept the game tied at 0-0.

  The second period started slow but gradually became faster in pace. The first goal for the Mavs was scored by John Scott-Dickson, in the 11th minute, and was assisted by Evan Vossen and Josh “Podge” Turnbull. Josh “Podge” Turnbull scored the Mavs’ second goal, in the 14th minute, after a great pass from Sebastian Thinel. The Mallards scored next, in the 17th minute. The goal was scored by Mike Stinziani and   The second period started slow but gradually became faster in pace. The goal was scored by Mike Stinziani and assisted by Matt Boyd. The second period ended with a 2-1 lead in favor of the Missouri Mavericks.

  The third period had a fast pace right from the get-go even though the first goal wasn’t scored until the 15th minute. The goal was scored by Josh “Podge” Turnball, after a great pass from Blake Forsyth. The game ended in a 3-1 win for the Missouri Mavericks.

  Mavs goalie, Mike Clemente had an amazing performance blocking 26 of the 27 shots taken by the Mallards for a blocking percentage of 96 percent. This earned him the third star of the game. The second star was Mike Stinziani of the Mallards who had one goal and took five shots on goal. The Player of the Game award went to Josh “Podge” Turnball for his impressive two goal and one assist performance.

  The Mavs will play their next game Tuesday against the Tulsa Oilers.  They play again Thursday at Bloomington. The Mavs then play at Quad City Friday and come home to play Quad City on Saturday. The upcoming week will be very busy for the Mavs but there will also be some great hockey played.
